Magnetic Reel 9-track Tape ( 1600 BPI - 6250 BPI)

Magnetic reel tapes have been around for
many years. This media predates the "PC". It can support densities from
800 BPI to 6250 BPI. The most common densities used today are 1600 and 6250.
Although any type of data can be
written to a magnetic reel tape, the data is normally written to tape in fixed record and
block lengths. This allows for the most flexible use of the data.
The most helpful information to
provide us for preparing a bid are:
1.) Approximate amount of data.
2.) Record Length & Block size
3.) Is tape in Labeled format?
4.) Tape Density - 1600 bpi, 6250 bpi etc...
This information is needed for the
purposes of accurate bidding, but is not required in order for us to process the data.
