3480 - 3490 - 3490E
3480 has been commonly used to replace 9-track magnetic reel tapes.
It offers more storage space and has a compact and more trouble free design.
Over the years higher density versions have been developed. These include 3490 and 3490E.
The newer formats can hold well over a gigabyte of information.
Like 9-track tape, any type of data can be written to a 3480 cart. The data is normally
written in fixed block and record lengths allowing for the most flexible use of the data.
The most helpful information to
provide us for preparing a bid are:
1.) Approximate amount of data.
2.) Record Length & Block size
3.) Is tape in Labeled format?
4.) Tape Density - 3480, 3490 or 3490E.
